A Midsummer"s Day Poem

In honor of the beginning of Summer, I decided to put a poetic offering out there!

Midsummer's Day

On a green hillside we gather together
It's Midsummer's Day, how perfect the weather!
The sun shines above all bright and gold,
soon there will be stories told.
Arthur, Guenevere, Lancelot, Kay
their tales remembered again today
More stories and songs we will tell,
the bards of old knew them all well
throughout the night these vigils we keep
till the fires die we will not sleep
As Midsummer's Day comes to an end,
let what has passed find us all friends.

Movie Musings

I went to see Robin Hood with Russell Crowe today and found it interesting.  Not having read the stories, I'm curious as to how correct to the literature it was.  From what I know of Medieval times, I'd have to say that it was period correct if nothing else!  The acting was quite good and much of the cinematic scenery was quite lovely as well. The baseness of the English court of the time I also feel was probably rather accurately portrayed.  More actual storyline I felt should have been developed and not such a focus on the warring of the time being told about.  Knowing more about the characters actual, historical lives would have made the story richer. I hope that this and similar movies will continue to be made but with more focus on the historical personalities rather than merely the battles and wars that they were in.  As a major fan of the King Arthur legends, I would love to see a movie on the Holy Grail episodes from those works.  Just my thoughts on such!

A poetic offering

For my post today I decided to put a bit of a poem to brighten up this cloudy day!  Hope you like it!

Dancing on Moonbeams

Hearing the music
we answer the call.
Dancing on moonbeams,
Goddesses all!
Our veils flowing
as gossamer wings,
dancing and playing
on Ariadne's strings.
Goddess and mortal
all come to the dance,
Beledi rhythm starting our trance.
Drumbeat and heartbeat
becoming as one,
spinning and twirling till our bodies numb.
Mind and spirit join together,
dancing we all feel light as a feather.
Suddenly the music begins to slow,
we're conscience again of what we know.
Now we hold the stars in our hands,
until the dance begins,
again.

My First Post!

Hail! Welcome to my first blog! My plan is for this to be a collection of musings and poetry and an occasionial anecdote on crocheting/embroidery or my Norwegian Forest cat, Loki. Bear with me as I get more used to this! Thanks for reading!
